Sticker Contest Entry: Nick from Denver
Big style points on this one… that’s the Denver skyline! The dome towards the left is the state capitol.

Up next in our trip through Festivus programming is Johnathan’s review of Miracle Investigators, a short film by Jeremy Dehn.
Just a reminder- don’t forget to send us your entries for the sticker contest! All you have to do is email your mailing address to info@festivusfilmfestival.com. We’ll send you out a pack of stickers. Stick ‘em in some “interesting” publicly-viewable spots, take a photo, and email it back to us. Win festival passes!
Here’s the next review for you folks, as we continue our sneek peek into our 2010 selection process. This is screener Jeremy McKenna’s review of Une Vignette de Melancolie, directed by Alex White.
Okay, so here’s how it works… send an email to info@festivusfilmfestival.com with your mailing address in the body of the email, and STICKER COMP as the subject. We’ll mail you a couple of great Festivus stickers. Stick them somewhere unique and fun, take a digital photo of the sticker in it’s new home, and email it back to us. The first five people that enter will automatically receive a pair of single-screening tickets, and the best overall will get a pair of full-festival passes. Entrants will be graded on creativity and style. The only rule is that stickers must be placed in a publicly viewable spot. In other words, the underside of the trash can lid in your basement won’t work. Let the stickering begin!
We’ve been getting a lot of emails from both fans and filmmakers asking about how the screening process is going. To provide a bit of transparency to the process, we’re going to start posting a review or two per week. We’ll keep it simple; only positive reviews, and only about 1 minute each. These reviews are the opinion of one screener only, and do not indicate acceptance into the festival. So here’s the first one, a review of Peter Besson‘s short film titled True Beauty This Night, reviewed by Festivus Family member Dan Ito.
One of the things we emphasize here at Festivus is making sure to give submitting filmmakers the respect they deserve. When somebody submits a film, we always take the time to drop them a line and say thanks for including Festivus in their plans. In response to one of those emails, John Myers (“Third Wheel” Short Short category) writes:
Just wanted to say thank you for the personal message. It means a lot to us filmmakers that while fighting through the world of Film Fests, there’s one that seems to genuinely care about us. Not only see us as toy’s.
Festivus sounds amazing and (being a native) it makes me proud that a Colorado festival makes such an effort to take care of the filmmakers. You guys go above and beyond.
We’re always excited to get emails like this, and during the hectic submission process it helps remind all of us here at Festivus why we do what we do. So John- THANK YOU!
Filmmakers- the earlybird deadline ended last night (Friday, July 17). I know there are lots of you out there that for various reasons weren’t able to make the deadline. No worries. We’re now in the standard submission period, and you have about 2 months before the standard deadline (September 25.) As always, drop a line to Johnathan with any programming questions.
